Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Cromwell Academy
Pupil Premium is a sum of money received by the school from the Department for Education. It is intended to be used to support specific groups of pupils to ensure children from all backgrounds make good or better progress. A review of how Pupil Premium funding is spent will be published on the school website each year. At Cromwell Academy we have around 30 Pupil Premium pupils.

Who can benefit from Pupil Premium funding?
  • Children who are eligible for free school meals
  • Children who have received free school meals in the last 6 years ('Ever 6')
  • Looked After Children or children who are, or ever have been in care
  • Children with a close member of family in the armed forces
  • Children who have had a close relative in the armed forces in the past 6 years

It is important to note that children who are eligible for Pupil Premium funding still participate in day-to-day lessons and access the same curriculum.

If you feel that your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding please visit cambridgeshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or contact the school on office@cromwellacademy.com

Pupil Premium Principles
  • We will ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of our pupils.
  • We will ensure that appropriate provision will be made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes our Pupil Premium pupils.
  • Where appropriate we will allocate Pupil Premium funding to wider groups of pupils, including those from 'Just About Managing' families.
  • We recognise that every Pupil Premium child is different and that family circumstances can often change, this means that the actions put in place by the school will vary for different pupils, or the same pupil at different times in their school life.

In the 2017-2018 academic year we have been allocated £31,680.

Following our OFSTED report in May 2017, we are reviewing our Pupil Premium support to ensure that it has maximum impact for the learners we are supporting. Our programme of activities will expand as the year progresses.

Pupil Premium funding is used to provide additional support including:

  • Delivery of reading, writing, maths and spelling interventions
  • Specific Phonics intervention
  • Meta-cognition training and support
  • Pre-teach to particular groups of children
  • Home learning club
  • Access to the Family Inclusion and Liaison Officer
  • Funding for academic trips and activities
  • Morning learning club
  • Specific admin time linked to Pupil Premium families
  • Access to 1:1 tuition
  • Additional teaching and learning opportunities provided through trained TAs or external agencies
  • Access to necessary provision, e.g. revision guides

Like the Pupil Premium, the Armed Forces Service Premium is not distributed to each family but is a pooled resource to support school services.
